'DWTS': Will Terri Irwin, Robert Irwin's Mom, Join the Competition Show?

After his sister Bindi Irwins successful stint on Dancing With the Stars, Robert Irwin is hopeful that another family member might take to the ballroom. Robert recently revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he has started a petition to persuade his mother, Terri Irwin, to compete on the ABC series.

I kicked off a petition for my mom to appear on Dancing With the Stars, Robert explained. Shes currently saying, Nope, not for me. But I plan to gently convince her. I think she would shine on the dance floor.

Robert reflected on his own journey, noting, Bindi and I didnt think we could dance either. Yet, here we are. The rhythm obviously comes from Mom, because Dad, while athletic, had no sense of rhythm. So its only fairshe should do it too.

Bindi won Season 21 of DWTS in 2015, while Robert embarked on his own journey in September and ultimately claimed the Season 34 mirrorball trophy on November 25.

Throughout the season, Terri, Bindi, Chandler Powell, and their daughter Grace moved from Australia to California to support Robert. Terri even joined him on the dance floor during a touching contemporary routine on Dedication Night, evoking tears from Robert, his mother, and the judges.

This dance is for my mom and all the hardworking parents who often go unrecognized, Robert shared during the October 14 episode. Its for anyone who has faced loss or hardship. Call your mom and tell her you love her.

Terri continued to cheer Robert on and congratulated him on winning via Instagram, sharing, Congratulations, Robert! Your dedication, passion, and heart brought you here. Thank you to everyone who supported him, proving even a zookeeper can learn to dance. Witney, youre now part of our family. Im so proud of you, Robert. I know Dad would be too.
