Diddy accuses Netflix CEO of 'Corporate Retribution' in response to 'The Reckoning' Docuseries, Sends Cease-and-Desist

Sean Diddy Combs has intensified his dispute with Netflix, CEO Ted Sarandos, and producer Curtis 50 Cent Jackson by sending a forceful cease-and-desist letter. The letter demands that the streaming giant immediately remove the docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning, which Combs described as an act of corporate retaliation.

According to Combs legal team, the series is not a legitimate documentary but a hit piece designed to advance a personal vendetta. The letter claims Netflix unlawfully possesses video material allegedly taken from Combs and his associates, warning that legal action against both Netflix and Jackson may follow.

Addressed to Netflix legal executive David Hyman, the correspondence details multiple accusations, asserting that Netflixs promotion of the project as a documentary is misleading. The letter contends that the show was driven by Jackson, whose publicly documented obsession with harming Mr. Combss reputation makes him incapable of producing an impartial portrayal.

The letter states that in 2023, Sarandos proposed creating a documentary about Combs, which Combs declined because he was asked to surrender creative control. Combs team claims that Netflixs decision to have Jackson produce the series was a retaliatory move, aimed at presenting a one-sided account rather than an accurate representation of Combs life.

Combs lawyers argue that Jacksons hostility disqualifies him from offering a fair depiction of Combs legacy. They also assert that Netflix possesses recordings belonging solely to Combs or his entities, obtained in violation of contracts, copyright law, and privacy protections. The recordings allegedly include sensitive material, such as privileged communications with Combs attorneys, and distributing them would breach copyright and contractual obligations.

The cease-and-desist letter demands that Netflix immediately remove the series, confirm the accuracy of its statements, investigate any unlawfully obtained footage, return such materials, and halt further distribution. Combs and his affiliates reserve all legal rights, noting that Combs has previously pursued legal action against media companies. Netflix is also instructed to preserve all related documents.

As of now, Netflix has not publicly responded or removed the series. The letter, however, indicates Combs is prepared to pursue full-scale litigation, potentially including copyright infringement, breach of contract, and other legal claims. Representatives for Netflix and Diddy have not commented on the matter.
