Channing Tatum paid an emotional tribute to the late Stephen tWitch Boss at the Dance Hall of Fame Ceremony in Los Angeles on December 3, honoring the dancer and actor three years after his passing.
During his speech, Tatum grew visibly moved as he shared memories of working with Boss, highlighting the joy and inspiration he brought to those around him.
I promised myself I wasnt going to cry, Tatum admitted. tWitch made me laugh constantly, and to speak about him here is truly an honor. I spent a lot of time wondering what to say, especially since many here knew him longer than I did. But working alongside him allowed me to witness his brilliance firsthand.
He continued, Watching him on video, you realize how extraordinary he was. He loved so fully and radiated that love to everyone. Thats what made him shine.
Tatum first became a fan of Boss from his time on So You Think You Can Dance before sharing the screen with him in Magic Mike XXL in 2015. Reflecting on Bosss talent, he said, I couldnt fathom how someone so big could move so gracefully. And then he made you laugh on top of that. That was tWitchhe captured your heart effortlessly.
He added, He lifted everyone around him and inspired people to be their best selves. He accepted people for who they were and wanted to help wherever he could. Being around him was transformative.
Noting the special bond they shared, Tatum joked, I guess you could call it a man crush. Maybe it was because were both from Alabama. Knowing him was an honor, and I will see him again.
Boss rose to fame in the early 2000s on MTVs The Wade Robson Project and later became a fan favorite on So You Think You Can Dance, finishing as a runner-up in season 4 and returning as an all-star dancer. It was also on that show that he met his wife, Allison Holker, with whom he had three children: Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia.
Following his work on Magic Mike XXL, Boss joined The Ellen DeGeneres Show as a guest DJ and eventually became a co-executive producer. His influence and talent left a lasting impression on the entertainment world.
Stephen tWitch Boss passed away in December 2022 at the age of 40.
