A Scottish man made headlines this week for an audacious daylight theft, stealing nearly $5,000 worth of golf clubs from a parked car and casually strolling down the street with the loot over his shoulder. His choice of bright clothing did little to hide the crime.

The victim, 59-year-old golfer Grant Ager, had left his car on Perth Road in Dundee while visiting the Urban Botanical florist. Upon returning just ten minutes later, he discovered the trunk wide open and his golf equipment gone.

Im sure the car was locked, Ager said. Id only been away briefly, and when I came back, the boot was open. My first reaction was simply, Oh no. The clubs werent visible from outside, so he must have gone through the trunk.

CCTV footage shows the thief walking calmly down the street in broad daylight with the stolen Ping bag. There was no rush, giving the impression of a leisurely stroll rather than a quick escape.

The stolen items included:

  • Scotty Cameron putter
  • Mizuno irons
  • Callaway Rogue driver
  • Callaway Stealth 3-wood
  • Callaway 5-wood with Dornoch head cover
  • Callaway wedges
  • Dark grey/black Ping cart bag
  • Galvin Green waterproofs

Its shocking someone would do this around 3:30 p.m. on a busy street, Ager added. If they can steal golf clubs so openly, you start to wonder what else they might attempt.

Authorities in Scotland are investigating the incident, with inquiries currently in the early stages.
