New York Times reveals clues for puzzle #640: Solutions for Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025

If you enjoy NYT Strands puzzles, this guide will help you tackle Wednesdays puzzle #640. Here, youll find hints and the complete solution. Using a few hints is not considered cheating; the puzzle is meant to be challenging. As a regular daily player, Ill also share my approach and progress.

Understanding NYT Strands

Strands resembles a word search. Players face a grid of letters, 6 across and 8 down, containing about seven hidden words. Words can connect in any direction: horizontal, vertical, or diagonal, forming unusual shapes. Every letter in the grid is used, and your goal is to uncover all hidden words plus the final spangram, which ties the words together with a theme.

For example, in a previous puzzle, the theme was Thats so sweet! and the spangram was sugary, with all hidden words related to types of sugar.

Using In-Game Hints

If you get stuck, Strands allows hints. Finding four-letter words not related to the puzzle contributes to unlocking hints. Every three words reveal a Hint icon in the lower-left corner, highlighting letters of the next answer but not their connections. If needed, a second hint will show the word step by step, though using hints affects your final score.

Remember, Strands only allows one puzzle per day, with the timer resetting at midnight, similar to Wordle and Connections.

Today's Theme

The theme for puzzle #640 is It all adds up. Another way to think of it is sum & solution.

Additional Hints

If you need extra guidance, look for four-letter words not directly tied to the theme. Here are some to help you progress: PART, SOLE, SALE, PATH, CULL, CALL, COME, LOSS, CONE.

Spangram Length

The spangram for today is long, containing 9 letters.
